Ring Out the Bells

Composition played on National Radio

In 1993 I started composing my own music. This music was written in memory of my wonderful parents and with the help of a friend, Susan Milan, International Flautist and also Roy Stratford, Composer, Musician, Conductor and Lecturer, who kindly scored my music.

This music was first recorded by the Junior School Choir at St. Catherine's School, Bramley and performed at their Christmas Concert, and the following year in 1996 the music was recorded again by The Senior School Choir at St. Catherine's School Bramley, who also performed this at Guildford Cathedral to an audience of 1,500 people for their Annual Christmas Concert and on each occasion with myself performing on a Steinway Concert Grand.

This attracted a certain amount of publicity including front page coverage in The Surrey Advertiser and also an interview on County Sound Radio based in Guildford and all three recordings can be heard here. In addition, my music has been played on Classic FM over a period of four years on each occasion presented by both Henry Kelly and Natalie Wheen.

RING OUT THE BELLS

By Susie Drage

Christmas Bells are ringing, angel voices singing,

Trumpets sound out loud and clear;

A wondrous star shines down on Bethlehem town,

Because the Baby King is here.

An angel of the Lord proclaimed the Mighty word

“The Baby King is born today!”

On a cold and frosty night, the star it shone so bright

To help the shepherds find their way.

Joseph led the little donkey to find them somewhere to stay.

The babe was born in a stable and laid in a cradle made of hay.

Mary held her precious baby and looked up to heavens above.

Her heart was filled with joy and tenderness

And pure and everlasting love.

An Angel of the Lord proclaimed the Mighty Word

“The Baby King is born today!”

On a cold and frosty night, the star it shone so bright

To help the shepherds find their way.

Ring out the bells, may you rejoice!

A King is born today.

From the East there shone a star with an everlasting light.

The shepherds took their lambs and travelled through the night.

Angels sang of  “peace on earth”, foretell the Saviour’s birth.

Three wise men came bearing gifts of

Gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Ring out the bells, a King is born, Upon this Christmas morn.

Christmas Bells are ringing, angel voices singing,

Trumpets sound out loud and clear;

A wondrous star shines down on Bethlehem town,

Because the Baby King is here.
